Another look . . .

I finally had some time on Friday to attend to various second-order priorities, such as putting together a package of imaging studies to send to the radiologist father of an old friend. You may recall that no cancer was noted during the reading of the CT scans of my chest, abdomen, and pelvis performed in October 2005. Given the current diffuse metastatic spread less than three years later, the large size of some of the identified tumors, and the slow-growing nature of this type of cancer, I believe it prudent to take another look at the earlier studies to be certain that all was indeed clear at that point.

If those earlier scans were in fact clear of any cancer, then that knowledge will enable definitive bracketing of the period of tumor growth and therefore provide a sense of the rate of growth. If something was missed during the original reading of those scans . . . well, I’ll cross that bridge if and when I come to it.

The package was sent by USPS express mail and is guaranteed to arrive by Monday at 3PM. I’ll post the results of the review when they become available to me.

In the meantime, today is my younger son’s 17th birthday – Happy Birthday Taylor!!! We’re planning a big party at the ranch with friends and family. It will certainly be nice to take a break from all the medical nonsense to celebrate a wonderful occasion . . .

What Cancer Cannot Do
Author: Unknown

Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit
