We had another two and a half hour consultation with NY2 today during which he solidified his position as the leader of the systemic defense portion of my plan of attack. The final disposition on this point, of course, will be deferred until after hearing from NY1 tomorrow about his opinion regarding the potential applicability of conventional chemotherapy to my situation. It should be a very interesting conversation.
I am impressed with NY2’s confidence regarding his treatment regimen. He is the only MD I’ve met with in the past ten weeks who hasn’t looked at me with a long face. And who has a long-term treatment plan for me.
His protocol is much too complicated to summarize this evening (what with the VP debate and baseball playoffs in full swing as I write this note). But suffice it to say that it is specifically tailored based on test results from tissue samples, assessment of my dietary needs and digestive particulars, and the type of cancer I am addressing. And it entails diet, enzymes, supplements, and detoxification. It does NOT involve injecting poison into my veins hoping for short-term benefits at the expense of permanent damage to critical organs.
Incidentally, I was somewhat concerned about how my body would react last night to the reintroduction of meat. Would I be up all night retching? I’m pleased to report that for the first time in more than I month I slept through the night. No aching back. No cramping of the intestines in the morning. All in all, an encouraging development. Interestingly enough, NY2 says that the soy products that I’ve been consuming as meat replacements over the past two months are the equivalent of “stepping in front of a bus” given the particulars of my situation. If nothing else, I’m fascinated by the divergence of opinion that I hear on a day-to-day basis. But I’m close to making my decision.
And as I’ve said, everything else being equal I certainly appreciate the freedom to begin consuming meat again. It was really exactly what I wanted to hear. As Cecily said to me as we left his office, all he left out was that he wanted me to consume my steak dinners at a strip club.
