Powered by Advil and marijuana.

Miscellaneous tinkering about with the complex chemistry that has become my daily existence has at last yielded the holy grail of pain relief: an Advil/marijuana cocktail. Both components are essential. One without the other is ineffective. And there you have it: a secret of the universe, unlocked and successfully tested at Rancho SoƱador: 800 mg of Advil and a bowl of marijuana. (I’ve also ingested the marijuana but that takes a long time to take effect and when it does it knocks me upside down and I feel compelled to rewrite all the psychedelic songs in the Beatle’s catalog.)

The layering of this cocktail with good music is also highly recommended. It draws you right out of your body and into the room, far beyond the reaches of the flailing cancer cells. I’ve been listening to The Beatles “LOVE”, Ben Taylor’s “Famous Among the Barns”, and Sara Bareilles’ “Little Voice”.

Anyway, this little discovery has enabled me to have two consecutive days of manageable existence. And I’ve made the most of them. Yesterday was the finalization of some long overdue estate planning. And then Brandon and Deanna visited last evening. Cecily made a fantastic spaghetti Bolognese for the five of us (Taylor too). It was a wonderful evening. And Deanna expertly brought me up to date on personal bookkeeping that was upended by my recent unexpected hospitalization. Thank you Deanna! You’re hired!!!
