Blogstipation.

Or maybe I’m suffering from blogapathy. In any event, I’m not sure why my attentiveness to keeping the blog current has diminished. Sometimes you just gotta regroup and refocus, I guess. Anyway, my apologies again to those who feared the worst as a result of the silence. (And to confound matters, my email and internet access was down for a week during Christmas – some of you became increasingly concerned when emails bounced back.) Not to worry though – I’m still kicking – and kicking hard.

Despite some encouraging results, my participation in the immunotherapy clinical trial was terminated by the sponsoring pharmaceutical company because shrinkage of the tumors was not achieved after six infusions. So we now transition to Trabactedin chemotherapy, which has demonstrated impressive effectiveness against myxoid liposarcoma. The first infusion may be as early as later this week.

I’m sleeping well and not experiencing much pain to speak of. The greatest discomfort involves my swollen abdomen. Cecily persisted in scheduling an appointment to have my abdomen drained of fluid – the doctor removed 2.3 liters (0.6 gallons) of fluid on New Year’s Eve (about 5 pounds). Much relief . . .

I’ve asked Cecily to help maintain the blog so as to keep all of you informed as to status. Despite the fact that I’ve had a million needles stuck in me since August, I still feel as though we are at a relatively early stage in this fight. And that this battle will continue to be waged for quite some time. So regardless of how well I do at keeping the blog up to date, please be assured that the good fight continues to be waged.
