CDs and MRIs . . .

Another day. Another $14.65. Another CD containing echocardiogram images wending its way via overnight delivery to the San Francisco Bay Area. But this one is heading toward SF2 for the viewing pleasure of another highly-regarded cardiac surgeon. So when all is said and done I will have had the benefit of consulting with (at least) two top surgeons from two major cardiac centers. I'm pretty sure they'll both wanna crack my chest open. But unlike Tony Bennett, I don't ever want to sing I Left My Heart in San Francisco. So I will approach these guys with the cautiousness afforded a Doberman Pinscher when you approach with a New York steak stuffed in your front pocket.

The MRI of my hip will be performed tomorrow morning. I'm not scheduled to learn the results until Friday morning, after the radiologist has reviewed and made a report available to my primary care physician. And I know from the umpteen MRIs I've had before that the technicians won't say anything to the patient about what they see. But I'm going to play dumb and ask if I can "see what an MRI image looks like" after the session. If they fall for it I think I'll be able to determine what the conga line could not . . . I've certainly seen my share of myxoid liposarcomas on MRIs in the past.
