Clinical trials . . .

I made an unannounced visit to the clinic in Los Angeles that is conducting the Trabectedin (Yondelis) trials. After a rather long wait, I finally had a chance to speak with the office manager, a nurse. Apparently, the congestive heart failure that they are concerned about is a consequence of prior chemotherapy that many of the sarcoma patients have done. I’m very glad that I refused such nonsense fifteen years ago.

So it appears that I would not automatically be disqualified from participation as the result of my cardiac tumor. But she indicates that I would need to speak with the medical director about that. And that I should have a PET scan performed before I meet with him. I’ll bring that up as well at Friday’s . . . whatever it is I’m meeting with the doctor about again.

Incidentally, all the young girls that worked in this office were very pregnant. It must’ve been one helluva office Christmas party last year at the cancer clinic . . .
